Where Frisco, TX Families Find Adult Day Care for Dementia

Our Plano center has made the drive short, but distance is not the main reason to choose us. The reason Frisco families choose us is that everything about the day is designed for memory loss.  

A parent in the early or middle stages of dementia does not need a bed or a locked unit. They need a place to be during the day where someone is watching, where lunch actually gets eaten, where medications happen on time, and where they spend hours with other people instead of a television. They also need staff who know how to handle the moments that throw everyone else: the repeated question, the sudden wish to “go home,” the refusal to use the restroom. Every member of our staff is trained in dementia care, and each completes at least 12 hours of ongoing training a year.  

Frisco’s population is young on paper. The Census Bureau’s 2024 American Community Survey counts 20,979 residents aged 65 and older, 9.6% of the city, the lowest share among the cities we serve.

Most Frisco families now use our Plano center at 4682 McDermott Road in west Plano. OpenStreetMap routing puts it at 5.9 miles and about 12 minutes from Frisco City Hall in light traffic. Get directions to our Plano center.

If you prefer our Richardson center, the fastest route from central Frisco runs south on the Dallas North Tollway for about eight miles, east on the President George Bush Turnpike, off at Coit Road, and east on Campbell Road to our center on Nantucket Drive. Both the Tollway and the Turnpike are toll roads. Without tolls, the trip runs longer on surface streets such as Preston Road or Coit.  

Three things make the drive easier for Frisco families:  

1. Match the drop-off to your commute. We open at 7:30 AM and close at 5:30 PM. A parent who rides in with a family member working in Richardson, Plano or north Dallas adds only a few minutes to the trip.
2. Choose full days. A full day runs up to ten hours, so one round trip covers the whole workday.
3. Start with two or three set days. A fixed weekly pattern, such as Monday, Wednesday and Friday, is easier on your parent and on your calendar. Members who come often in the first weeks settle in faster.

We do not provide transportation, so it is worth checking Frisco’s public options before you enroll. Frisco is not a DART member city. Its transit runs through the Denton County Transportation Authority. Frisco Demand Response, DCTA’s curb-to-curb service for Frisco residents who are 65 or older, have a disability, or need a medical trip, costs $3 inside Frisco and $5 for regional trips, and it runs weekdays 6 AM to 6 PM. Its service area reaches into part of Plano but stops at the President George Bush Turnpike. Our Richardson center sits south of the Turnpike, outside that area. Our Plano center on McDermott Road is north of the Turnpike, so call DCTA to ask whether Frisco Demand Response can drop off there. The GoZone on-demand service and The Grove’s member shuttle stay inside Frisco.  

In practice, Frisco families drive or hire private senior transportation. If that is a dealbreaker, tell us on the phone and we will talk it through honestly.

Frisco caregivers tell us that food is where things start to slip: skipped lunches, the same sandwich every day, a stove left on. At our center, meals are handled from start to finish.  

• All meals and snacks are prepared on site. Members get a continental breakfast, a morning snack and a hot lunch served restaurant style from 12:30 to 1:30.
• A licensed dietitian reviews our menus, so meals follow the diet each member’s physician has ordered.
• Special diets, allergies and preferences are handled in our own kitchen rather than worked around.
• Staff help at the table with prompts, cues and adaptive equipment, and supervise members who have choking precautions.
• Hydration is scheduled. Water and juice are served at least three times a day, because people with dementia often stop noticing thirst.
• Families can get nutrition counseling if eating at home has become a struggle.
